Passionate about Yorkshire, its farmers and local producers; Fodder is proud to support and sell the very best.
85 per cent of what is sold and served is from Yorkshire and it’s one of the only food shop and cafés in the UK to donate all profits to farming charity Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
For every joint of meat or loaf of bread you buy, cup of coffee you drink or afternoon tea you enjoy, you will help pay for children to enjoy free trips to the Countryside Days or a farmer to have a health check, which may save his life.
This busy shop and café celebrates and sells amazing food and drink from more than 350 Yorkshire farmers, growers and producers. Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables to delicious cakes and breads, plus the biggest range of Longley Farm yogurts in the area and, of course, gallons of local milk from wonderful dairy farmers in Grassington.
The deli counter is laden with fresh pies, cooked meats and a huge variety of amazing cheese … including 67 different Yorkshire cheeses; all under the watchful gaze of Nick Chandler who recently came second in the “National Young Cheesemonger of the Year” competition.
The butchery is at the heart of Fodder. Head butcher Ben Turnbull goes out to the farms to ensure Fodder buys the best from amazing farmers.
“We make our own sausages and delicious sausage rolls, too,” says Ben, who also offers an interesting choice of oven-ready dishes from stuffed chicken to beef curry in addition to traditional cuts of meat.
With a three items for £10 offer – eating well has never been more affordable or delicious. The Fodder café serves Great Yorkshire Breakfasts, delicious lunches and afternoon tea, alongside coffee, tea and mouthwatering cakes.
“Our talented team of chefs bake fresh scones each morning, make flapjack, millionaire’s shortbread and the most enormous Yorkshire puddings. They’re so good and are also available to buy in the shop,” says general manager Philip Sands.
If you want to eat on the go, try Fodder on the Hoof – an original 1950’s Airstream Caravan serving hot drinks, bacon butties and quick lunches.
In addition to providing you with everything you need for your weekly food shop; Fodder also has an interesting range of crafts, gifts and cards. Not only does 100 per cent of profit from Fodder go to charity, all produce good enough to eat – but not good enough to sell – is donated to the Harrogate Homeless Project and Harrogate and Knaresborough Toy Library, which provides toys and healthy food to youngsters in need across the district.
Fodder is open seven days a week, with free wifi, free parking, a beautiful view and a warm Yorkshire welcome. fodder.co.uk
