A special wine dinner where guests can meet the producer and taste English sparkling wines is set to be held at Rockliffe Hall.
Husband and wife Ulrich Hoffman and Birgit Rathbone, of Hoffmann & Rathbone – a boutique winery in the picturesque village of Mountfield, East Sussex – will showcase their range and tell the story of their love and passion for craft and artistry in winemaking.
Ulrich’s experience and expertise allows him to push the boundaries to create very small quantities of ultra-premium, modern sparkling wine, using traditional methods, aged for long periods, with care and patience.

They conscientiously source and hand-pick only the ripest grapes grown in the beautiful South East English countryside, which are then gently pressed. England manifests terroir. The combination of absolute perfectionism, concentration on tiny volumes and commitment to producing wine beyond commercial time constraints, ensures only the very best quality for Hoffmann & Rathbone sparkling wine.
This special celebration dinner will take place in the 4AA Rosette Orangery restaurant at Rockliffe Hall hosted by head sommelier, Daniel Jonberger.

Tickets are priced at £67.50 and include a welcome drink and a delicious four-course dinner by the Orangery’s Executive Chef, Richard Allen.
His dishes will be carefully matched to four English wines, including three beautiful sparkling wines from Hoffman & Rathbone (Classic Cuvee 2013, Rose Reserve 2011, Blanc de Blancs 2011), which guests will be personally guided through by Ulrich himself.
‘It is not often I get surprised by wine. These wines did so and more, ” said Daniel Jonberger, Head Sommelier at Rockliffe Hall.
