The last year has been a rollercoaster ride for the hospitality industry, with many venues having to adapt to these challenging times. As the Government has allowed outdoor dining to resume from April 12, ahead of indoor dining from May 17, many venues have opted to introduce new outdoor dining spaces for customers to enjoy. The Northumberland Arms, Felton

The Northumberland Arms is a popular pub and hotel located in the quiet village of Felton in Morpeth, Northumberland. It previously offered an outdoor dining area at the front, but over the weekend a brand new Tipi Restaurant has been erected, so guests can enjoy locally-sourced food as well as an extensive drink selection whilst taking in the relaxing surroundings that this country-style pub has to offer.

The West Park Hotel, Harrogate

Keelham Farm Shop Kitchen, Skipton

Based just outside Skipton, in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales is the award-winning Keelham Farm Shop – which was voted the Best Farm Shop & Deli in the North of England as part of the Great British Food Awards 2020. Now the owners are taking it up a notch with the opening of Keelham Farm Shop Kitchen, headed up by executive chef, Timothy Kitchen, and it’s a big deal.

Grantley Hall, Ripon, North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire’s luxurious country house hotel, Grantley Hall, is set to bring a taste of the Mediterranean to North Yorkshire with its new outdoor dining area: The Orchard.
Featuring a vintage Airstream and cultivating a stylish laid-back summer atmosphere, guests will be able to enjoy all-day drinking and dining in The Orchard and will be spoilt for choice with a selection of casual contemporary favourites including delicious hamburgers, lobsters, and salads, accompanied by a choice of seasonal cocktails and fine wines. The Pickled Sprout, The Yorkshire Hotel, Harrogate

Another venue with views that will blow you away is The Pickled Sprout, which is back with new spring/summer dishes, alongside the launch of a large outdoor drinking and dining area in the shape of a fully landscaped Yorkshire Dales garden.
However, you must be quick! As The ‘Ales in the Dales’ garden is open for a limited time only from 12th April – 16th May, so make sure you book soon for this one-of-a-kind experience. Not many will be able to say they have dined here.

Dakota Bar and Grill, Leeds

Dakota Grill was recently awarded the prestigious accolade of a Michelin plate, an esteemed rating that recognises friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices, as well as being recommended in the 2021 Michelin Guide.
From April 12th it will launch its new Laurent Perrier Rosé Lounge, an al-fresco luxurious escape tucked away on the Salon Privé terrace.

The Purple Peacock, Newcastle

If you have ever visited Newcastle, you will have certainly noticed this gem sitting in a prime location in the city centre. The Purple Peacock is located on the 55 degrees roundabout and offers exquisite food and a wonderful ambiance and now – a spacious outdoor seating area with amazing views of this buzzing city centre. Trimmers Arms, South Shields
After undergoing a huge refurbishment, The Trimmers Arms in South Shields is expected to open its doors from April 12.
The new owners say their vision has been ‘well exceeded” and the new outdoor area features 19 luxury pods, each sits a max of 6 people, (4 minimum) and there is also a 12 seater pod ready for when restrictions are lifted. Each pod offers its own infrared heater, double electric socket for phone/WiFi charging, and TV to enjoy live sport. There are also 15 picnic tables sitting from 1 to 8 people.
In total that is seating for 190 people – and that’s with COVID restrictions in place. That number will increase to around 240 once COVID restrictions are lifted. What a project – we can’t wait to enjoy the hard work of this venue.

The Dockyard, South Shields
Although there is not a confirmed open date as of yet, we are too excited to not include this new experience on the list. Coming soon to the stunning seafront of South Shields, The Dockyard features a spacious outdoor tent installment, under which diners can take in the exquisite views while enjoying “street food, big screens, DJ’s & more.”

After being closed to the public for a year – and deeply missed – Jesmond Dene House will reopen on the May 19 2021.
