Brockley Hall is no ordinary hotel. The quirky venue, in Saltburn by the Sea, features Moulin Rouge and Orient Express style interiors and a chef that’s casting his creative flair on the menu.
Heather Garcia’s quirky mind is reflected in her 30-bedroom hotel. Not only does Brockley Hall feature fascinating décor from Heather’s travels, it comes with Gypsy Caravans where six guests can sit and tuck into afternoon tea, for just £25 each.
The hotel, in the Victorian coastal town of Saltburn by the Sea, is a foodie haven with a brasserie and fine dining restaurant overseen by head chef Scott Miller.
FINE DINING
The seven-course menu in the fine dining restaurant is where Scott really gets to flex his culinary muscles.
From dishes such as blue corn tortilla with homemade pastrami, sauerkraut, guacamole and dehydrated chilli strands to lamb with courgette, tomato and pearl barley ragu, Scott loves to “try new techniques, make dishes interesting and keep things current.

“The wild sea bass with mussel cream, smoked cod roe and pomme soufflé is a showstopper, and always goes down storm.”
Scott gets his inspiration from “Instagram and eating out”. “I was at Sat Baines’s restaurant and tried a tobacco aero. I’ve put a white chocolate and tarragon aero with macerated strawberries, yoghurt sorbet and fennel on our menu.”

Check out Brockley Hall’s Instagram feed, @brockley_hall_hotel to see this culinary wizard’s new creations that feature on his menu.
The fine dining menu is available Wednesday to Sunday (6.30pm to 9pm) and seven courses is just £50.

AFTERNOON DELIGHT
When it comes to cakes, Scott and his brigade are connoisseurs of creativity. Classics, such as carrot cake and apple and bramble tart are combined with grapefruit macaroons and dark chocolate and pistachio trifle. You’ll also find the self-confessed sweet-toothed chef casting his magic making passionfruit and mango truffles and truffle rose gold Turkish Delight petits fours.
Afternoon tea is £22 per person, and additional for Champagne. Or why not hire your own private Gypsy Caravan (minimum six people) with afternoon tea? £25 per person.
