Don’t be a pudding, get visiting these places for Sunday lunch.
THE FOX HOLE, PIERCEBRIDGE
For a platter that’ll pack a punch on the palate, The Fox Hole is where it’s at. Chef patron Eleanor Richmond doesn’t mess about when it comes to flavour – and the Sunday lunch menu, at £18.95 for two courses and £23.95 for three, is tidy on the purse strings, too.
The platter comes with three meats: topside of beef served pink; roast loin of pork and free range chicken. You’ll also get Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and THE most tasty side vegetables such as braised red cabbage, root vegetable mash, seasonal greens and creamy mash.
Make sure you order the pheasant croquette as a starter, too. Served with pickled carrot and pea puree, this dish is a mouthful of marvelousness.

THE BLACK SWAN, HELMSLEY
Steeped in five-centuries-worth of history, The Black Swan in Helmsley offers a warm Yorkshire welcome to any diner. This stunning four-star hotel sits at the heart of the town’s picturesque market square, and has been a popular place of escape since the 15th century.
A traditional lunch is served each Sunday in the three AA Rosette restaurant, The Gallery, where guests can tuck in to a fabulous roast dinner served with all the trimmings. Think roast sirloin of Yorkshire beef or roast loin of rare breed pork with duck-fat roasted potatoes and cauliflower cheese.
The food is hearty and portions are filling, but it would be rude not to enjoy a chocolate fondant, baked alaska or sticky date and stout pudding for something sweet. The restaurant also has a fantastic wine list which comes with vino by the glass, as well as by the bottle. Sunday lunch is £29 for two courses or £35 for three courses.

RAMSIDE HALL, DURHAM
If you want a Sunday lunch that caters for all the family – then The Pemberton’s Carvery at Ramside Hall is a great shout. It’s a ‘help yourself’ carvery, so grab a plate and dish up all your favourites for £10.95.
You can choose from beef, pork, gammon, turkey or chicken – all served with home-made Yorkshire puddings and seasonal vegetables. The atmosphere is laid-back and relaxed, perfect for chill time with the gang.
Be sure to save room for one of the many home-made desserts on offer.
If you’d prefer table service, head on over to the AA award-winning Rib Room Steakhouse and Grill which serves Sunday lunch from 12pm-4pm every week with two courses for £18.95, and three courses for £22.95.
All the traditional roasts are served with a Yorkshire pudding, rich pan of gravy (so you can pour on as much as you want) and vegetables. And if you can’t resist the house speciality, don’t worry as the succulent steaks are also found on the Sunday Lunch menu and are served with a salad garnish, peppercorn sauce and fries.
