Old Toms Gin Bar
Introduction
Old Toms Gin Bar is full of character, charm and curiosity. Set in a Tudor building from the 1500-1600’s, the bar specialises in gins, wine, cheeses and charcuterie – and features a peculiar collection of decor from all corners of the globe.
The bar area features a collection of more than 250 gins (from all over the world) but it isn’t the only eye-catcher. Look up and you’ll find a curious collection of weird, wonderful and wacky finds. Many customers describe this place as a museum!
The views don’t come much better than outside Old Toms. Relax on the terrace (with a gin in hand!) and enjoy the views of the Durham Castle and the river. The bar is situated on The Riverwalk development – in the heart of Durham’s historic city – a new £30million leisure development.

With more than 250 different gins from around the world, there’s plenty to tantalise all taste buds at Old Toms. The menu is cleverly put together by tastes, with classic dry gins; sweet and fruity; floral and fragrant; and complex, unique and navy strength for those who want something more punchy.
As well as gins from around the world, Old Toms Gin Bar stocks plenty of regional favourites including Durham Gin; Poetic License Gin – made in Sunderland – and many more. Looking to sip on a cocktail? Old Toms serves up a full range, including an Espresso Martini; Blackberry Gin Sour; Passionfruit Martini; Negroni and many more.
Wines, beers, cider and non-alcoholic drinks are all available, too. Plus, tea and coffee.
Offers include 2 for £12 on cocktails all week, and from Sunday to Thursday visitors can enjoy selected double gins and mixers for £9.
The Food Menu
Old Toms Durham is famous for its cheese and charcuterie boards. Featuring speciality cheese and meats, the board includes delights such as Rutland Red, Brie Meux, Colsten, Basset Blue and Goldminster Cheddar. The boards (you can get a cheeseboard of a meat and cheeseboard) are an ideal sharing platter and start from just £10.95.
On the menu is also warm camembert with fresh garlic and rosemary, served with fresh bread; hummus, olives and bread; and a selection of toasties – as well as bacon and saussage sarnies.
