Food fanatic Kerri Turtle has created a recipe for success since taking over The Tankerville Arms, Eglingham
A traditional country pub offering outstanding food, local ales, luxury accommodation and a beer garden that overlooks the rolling countryside – you have it all at The Tankerville Arms.
You can even take your canine companion to stay over, too.
The pub, in Eglingham near Alnwick, was taken over by food fanatic Kerri Turtle a year ago.
Although she has retained the building’s traditional charm and character, she’s launched a modern menu that’s posh pub grub at its best.
Created by Kerri and her head chef Michael Appleby, the menu features delectable dishes such as fresh crab fritters with rocket salad and saffron mayonnaise (starter, £6.50); pan-fried seabass with Lyonnaise potatoes and black pepper butter (£14.50) and pigeon salad with black pudding (£6.95).
This is rustic done right and Kerri champions local produce on her menu, too.
Three specials are added each day after 5.30pm, giving chef Michael free rein to cook up a storm for guests – such as the monkfish scampi or scallops with puy lentils and butternut squash puree.
Whether it’s real ale, fruity ciders or fine wines, Kerri is passionate about offering top tipples.
There are two permanent ales: Hadrian Border Brewery’s Tyneside Blonde and Alnwick Brewery’s Alnwick Amber, plus a guest ale every two weeks.
Old Mout and Blind Pig cider, which features flavours such as bourbon and blueberry and rum and poached pear, are firm favourites with visitors. Plus, wines such as Picpoul and Malbec can be found here too.
