The Riverfront York, the home of Bosun’s Restaurant, Appoints Gavin Swift as Executive Chef
The Riverfront York is delighted to announce the appointment of Gavin Swift as Executive Chef, marking an exciting new chapter for the business as it continues to elevate its culinary offering across the site.
Gavin will take overall responsibility for all food served throughout The Riverfront York, working closely with the existing teams to develop and refine menus across the venue. His appointment reflects a commitment to delivering consistently high-quality dining experiences, with a strong emphasis on innovation, seasonality, and guest satisfaction.
Gavin joins The Riverfront York following an impressive career in some of the North’s most celebrated kitchens. Most recently, he was Chef Patron at The Grantley Arms, earning recognition for his modern, ingredient-led approach.
Prior to this, he spent over six years at the prestigious Grantley Hall, further developing his craft in one of the region’s most renowned culinary destinations.
His experience also includes key roles at The Coach House at Middleton Lodge, Aysgarth Falls Hotel, and The George at Wath, bringing with him a deep understanding of Yorkshire hospitality and a proven track record of excellence.
Gavin’s cooking is rooted in seasonal, ingredient-led dishes, drawing inspiration from the finest Yorkshire produce while reflecting influences from his travels across the Mediterranean and the British Isles. His approach aligns seamlessly with The Riverfront York’s ethos of celebrating quality ingredients and delivering authentic, memorable dining experiences.
Having joined the business at the end of March, Gavin has already spent his first weeks immersing himself in the operation, building relationships with the team, and redesigning the menus at Bosun’s Restaurant – the site’s award-winning dining destination, proudly holding two AA Rosettes and recently recognised with the Visit York Taste of England Award. The refreshed offering is set to further enhance Bosun’s reputation, focusing on exceptional quality, creativity, and consistency.
