I love a Sunday roast, especially when I haven’t had to slave over it myself! So, when I heard about Amber’s at Cedar Court in Harrogate, I knew I had to give it a try.
Their Sunday menu offers a modern take on classic British cuisine, bringing together the best of Yorkshire’s moors, dales, and coast in a way that feels luxurious yet relaxed.

A Dining Room Full of Character
From the outside, you wouldn’t even know Amber’s was there—it’s a true hidden gem. Inside, though, it’s a completely different story. We were lucky enough to get a gorgeous window table, which gave us a great view of the whole dining room. The space is packed with original features, from intricate coving to grand pillars, and the lavish furniture—covered in bold, eye-catching prints—adds to the opulent yet inviting feel.
The Full Sunday Experience
We decided to go all in with three courses—because, let’s be honest, Sunday lunch should be a proper feast! The menu features all the classics, including Roasted Sirloin of Hereford Bred Beef, Roasted Loin of Easingwold Pork, and Chargrilled Chicken Breast—all served with Yorkshire puddings, seasonal veg, and lashings of gravy.
We started with Beetroot and Caraway Cured Salmon with pink grapefruit, rocket, a crispbread shard, and lime dressing. Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavour—a great way to begin. And Pressed Ham Hock and Apricot with pickled vegetable salad, grain mustard sauce, and micro herbs. A perfect balance of salty, tangy, and sweet, with just the right amount of sharpness from the pickled veg.

For mains, I couldn’t resist the pork—mainly because I’m a crackling enthusiast and, for me, a perfect roast is all about that snap and crunch. The crackling here came in the form of a large crisp rather than the traditional bubbly, golden shards I was hoping for, but it was delicious nonetheless. The beef, on the other hand, was faultless—perfectly cooked, beautifully tender, and incredibly generous in portion size.
The sides were fantastic—big portions (a must for a proper Sunday roast) and cauliflower cheese that was creamy, rich, and indulgent. The biggest win? Extra gravy! Absolute tick in the box for me—there’s nothing worse than having to ask for more.
Ending on a Sweet Note
At this point, I was pretty full, but when I see Sticky Toffee Pudding on a menu, I physically cannot say no. My partner went for a selection of sorbets—light, refreshing, and perfect for cleansing the palate. Meanwhile, I undid a button and dived into my bowl of warm, sticky, sweet perfection. Worth every single calorie.
A Beautiful Setting & Warm Yorkshire Hospitality
Amber’s isn’t just about the food—it’s the whole experience. The space has been beautifully redesigned by award-winning Yorkshire-based Studio Two, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes Sunday lunch feel extra special. Inspired by Lady Amber Fitzwilliam, the restaurant’s namesake, there’s a real sense of history woven into the elegant yet cosy interiors.
Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff were fantastic—always on the go but never too busy to check in. Their warmth and attentiveness made the whole experience even better.

Would I Recommend It? Absolutely.
If you’re visiting Harrogate and looking for a delicious Sunday lunch in a stunning setting, Amber’s at Cedar Court is an excellent choice. From the flavoursome starters to the hearty roasts and indulgent desserts, everything was well thought out, beautifully presented, and full of flavour.
A special shoutout to locals living within an HG1 or HG2 postcode—members of Friends of Amber’s can enjoy 20% off Sunday lunch, plus other exclusive perks. If I lived closer, I’d definitely be taking advantage of that!
Would I go back? Without a doubt. Next time, I might even pace myself so I can fully enjoy dessert without having to undo a button!
