TV favourite Philli Armitage-Mattin is set to take over cult fine dining counter restaurant Kebab Queen.
The chef and author, who’s featured on ITV’s This Morning and who was a finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals is collaborating with Kebab Queen – the Covent Garden venue by Le Bab, known for its plateless service and modern Middle Eastern cuisine.
From May 17, Philli will take over the Kebab Queen counter for three months, introducing her distinctive experiential menus, for dinner from Tuesdays to Friday, and lunch on Friday.
This follows chef Manu Canales’s decision to take a leave of absence from the restaurant.
Philli has garnered international renown for her inventive approach to food – a big feature in her recent, critically-acclaimed book Taste Kitchen: Asia.
She trained under Gordon Ramsay and has worked at Michelin two-starred Den in Tokyo, and Haku in Hong Kong, as well as running a highly- rated residency at Number One Park Lane.
Philli’s ability to create truly unforgettable dining experiences is characterised by her indulgent, umami-packed style of cookery.
“I fell in love with the service style at Kebab Queen when I dined there recently – and I’m really inspired by the opportunity to use it myself,” said Philli.
“For me, it’s like a blank canvas where I can be as creative as possible, express my personal cooking style to its truest, and push my cooking to new levels!”
During her residency at Kebab Queen, Philli will meld refined dishes inspired by her travels around Asia with the restaurant’s signature plateless service style. The multi-course tasting menu will feature an eclectic array of dishes (£120pp), and an optional wine pairing will also be available.

- Crab Chawamushi, Peas, XO Sauce
- Chinese BBQ Lamb, Sichuan Lamb Skewer with Aubergine, Sesame Soy Sauce, Chiu Chow
- Ayam Bakar Stuffed Chicken Wing with Chicken Fat Rice, Sambal Matah, Chicken Skin Crumb
- Brown Butter Cake, Pine Nut Purée, Strawberry Sansho Cheong, Whey Ice Cream, Pickled
