Chef patron of Michelin-starred Pine in Northumberland, Cal Byerley, features in Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars
Staff from Michelin-starred Pine restaurant in Northumberland will feature on Gordon Ramsay’s new TV programme tonight.
Viewers will be able to watch the team on BBC One at 9pm as they help multi-Michelin-starred chef, restaurateur, broadcaster and writer, Gordon Ramsay, whittle down the remaining contestants in episode five of Future Food Stars – as he searches for his next business partner.
Each week Gordon sets his contestants a series of intense challenges designed to test their character and showcase their business skills as he makes up his mind who he will invest in and help take their business to the next level.
Tonight’s episode is no exception, as Gordon and the contenders travel to the Lake District to test how well they can turn humble ingredients into a profit.

In the Cumbrian countryside Gordon meets up with Cal Byerley, chef patron of Northumberland’s Michelin starred Restaurant Pine, as he demonstrates his pastry skills with his signature Pine infused mille-feuille.
To be able to replicate the dessert the budding entrepreneurs are tasked with climbing 40-foot-tall-trees to gather 100 pine needles and 25 perfect pine cones in just 20-minutes and then infuse these key ingredients into their mille-feuilles.

Who will attempt the dizzying climb, and will anyone be able to create the signature patisserie and make the grade?
And that’s before the contenders come face to face with Gordon to convince him why they should stay.
Someone has to leave, but who will Gordon send packing this week?
