We all know what July 4th is celebrated for across the pond in the USA – but today, here at Savour, we’re declaring independence on all the fabulous food and drink producers and celebrating them by launching our Independent campaign.
To show our support for local, independent delis, farm shops and producers, we aim to shine a spotlight on the amazing food and drink that can be found in the UK and the amazing people behind the produce.
From the best spirits, condiments, preserves, chocolates, doughnuts (you name it!) to artisan breads, cheeses, home-reared meats and fresh vegetables, if it tastes good we want to spread the independent love. #ShopLocal and all that. We are an independent magazine ourselves, and we champion those who are going it solo because they have a passion for what they’re doing.
“It’s important to support small independent local businesses because it helps the local economy, employment and gets the county on the map,” says Jannick Genouw of shop Taste of Northumbria. “For us, showcasing the excellent local produce is what tourists expect to see when visiting places like Northumberland.”
Melissa from Fodder – a food hall, local farm shop and cafe in Harrogate – adds: “Shopping local gives consumers access to the best tasting and freshest food possible. Buying local supports our farmers and producers and keeps our countryside beautiful. So eat well and love our countryside.”
So, expect to see (and taste!) the hottest new products with Savour’s Independent Campaign. We hope you’ll come on board.
