Renowned North East chef Gareth Rayner has joined Wynyard Hall’s Glass House Restaurant as executive head chef.

Gareth, who previously oversaw the food operation at Middleton Lodge, will now lead the team at Wynyard to create seasonal, modern British menus, with a plot to plate twist.
“I’m excited to bring a new approach to the estate and modern British dining, ushering in an exciting new phase,” said the chef, who started his culinary career more than 20 years ago.
As an exceptional professional in the industry, at Middleton Lodge, he was recommended for four rosettes and oversaw the opening of two successful restaurants which he claims are some of his most poignant achievements in his career so far.
Garet, who will oversee Wynyard’s food vision in the Glass House, banqueting and events, maintains that the key to producing quality food is always having salt, good music and a good atmosphere in any kitchen, be it home or work.
“I’m convinced that food should bring ultimate joy to consumers and I believe that the creative approach to cooking creates an excuse for friends and family to get together to appreciate good food. A lot of skill goes into making refined dishes, which are created with intense flavour, to celebrate local produce and ingredients from our own edible kitchen garden.”
His inspiration throughout the years has come largely from Chef Gordon Ramsay, drawing from his professionalism, success and unparalleled passion for the industry.
The Glass House is a restaurant that is authentic and true to nature. As a result, the botanical celebration by both design and flavour allows guests to enjoy a relaxed dining atmosphere with panoramic views over the kitchen garden.
