He is the top chef at London’s Duck and Waffle restaurant and now Dan Doherty has been named as one of the stars on new BBC show, Britain’s Best Cook. Here, he’ll join Mary Berry and Chris Bavin on the judging panel for the TV competition, which will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman. He’ll also be appearing at this year’s Bishop Auckland Food Festival. We got the lowdown…
What was your initial reaction when you were asked to be a judge on Britain’s Best Cook?
I honestly couldn’t believe it. We were just about to finish up for Christmas when the news came in – best Christmas gift ever.
‘Would you rather’ eat duck or waffles for the rest of your life?
That is a really tough one… I think I have to say waffles though. You can do so much with them, sweet or savoury, so I think they would offer me a bit more variety in the long term.
